SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald Schutzenhofer of Granite City, who passed away on May 20, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schutzenhofer was born to Joseph F. and Anna Mae (Williams) Schutzenhofer in East St. Louis on November 6, 1936; he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schutzenhofer retired in 1992 from Granite City School District #9 after many years of dedicated service as a custodian; he had also owned and operated the D&B Employment Agency in Granite City and had worked at American Steel for several years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schutzenhofer loved visiting the Casino Queen and enjoyed gambling and playing the slot machines; he also enjoyed cooking and playing cards, especially Spades; he looked forward to trips to the lake to visit with his brother; he always had a joke to tell and will be especially remembered for the love and special times he shared with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schutzenhofer was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Aaron Schutzenhofer; and his brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Mary Schutzenhofer; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schutzenhofer is survived by his son, Christopher Schutzenhofer; his four daughters, Carla (Richard) Gillespie, Carie (Jim) Evans, Candi (Jim) Parker, and Cathi (Tim) Strazinsky; his 15 grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Nick, Mary, Ricky, DJ, Alex, Brendan, Hunter, Drake, Reid, Taylor, Madison, Mitch, and Logan; his great-grandchildren; his sister, Norma Graves; his nieces and nephews and other extended family; and his friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald Schutzenhofer and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Schutzenhofer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
