SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michaele "Mike" Wapole Skowron, who
4passed away on April 7, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michaele Skowron was born to Virginia (Krohn) and
6Francis Wapole Sr. on October 12, 1942; she was raised in
7Chicago and graduated from Alvernia High School and then
8Loyola University Chicago in 1964; she lived in Mt. Prospect
9for 47 years and spent her later years in Des Plaines; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michaele Skowron retired from Motorola Solutions
11after 20 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michaele Skowron had a passion for service and
13debate, which led to many terms of public service; she was an
14elected member of the Mt. Prospect District 57 School Board,
15an elected member of the Mt. Prospect Village Board, an
16appointed member of the Mt. Prospect Zoning Board of Appeals,
17an appointed commissioner of the Mt. Prospect Fire and Police
18Board, a volunteer at the Mt. Prospect Public Library, a
19volunteer at HandsOn Suburban Chicago, and president of two
20homeowner associations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Michaele Skowron was preceded in death by her

1parents and her godmother and aunt, Mary "Retz" Wapole; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Michaele Skowron is survived by her husband of 55
3years, Dr. Ernest L. Skowron D.D.S; her daughters, Jennifer
4(Donald) Szczesniak and Andrea (Daniel) O'Brien; her
5grandchildren, Zachary and Luke Szczesniak and Maura and
6William O'Brien; her siblings, Sharon (Glen) Phillips, Francis
7Wapole (Patricia Brizz), Roderick Wapole (Laura Kroll), Gayle
8(Christopher) Banakis, Brian Wapole, and Claire Wapole (James
9Conway); her sisters-in-law, Anita (the late Richard)
10Baranczuk and Gwen (the late Edward) Rys; and numerous nieces,
11nephews, and their children; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Michaele "Mike" Wapole Skowron and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Michaele Skowron as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
