SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frank R. Banfield of Moline, who passed away on April 13, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield was born to Arch and Gertrude (McSparin) Banfield in Carlisle, Indiana on September 13, 1927; he enlisted in U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until the end of World War II; he was stationed in Okinawa during the Battle of Okinawa; he later enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served during the Berlin Air Lift; he married Jeanne Blue at Union Congregational Church in Moline on March 7, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield worked at Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter, retiring in 1989; he later worked at Jewel Foods from 1990 to 1997; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield volunteered at his children's schools and was Santa at the South Park Mall for ten years; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield enjoyed bowling, going to museums, and attending concerts; he loved going to car shows, bicycling, and going on road trips; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his infant daughter, Debra; his grandson, Chad; his siblings, Orville, Leonard, James, Arthur, Lawrence, Ervin, Helen Hicks, Avenell Bos, and Clarabelle Fogle; and his infant brother, Clarence; and

WHEREAS, Frank Banfield is survived by his children, Cheryl "Sheri" (Earl) Fangmeier, Denise (Dan) Bennett, Dana (Debra) Banfield, Kevin (Monica) Banfield, and Kara (Jon) Banfield Vermeire; his grandchildren, Chris (Stacy) Banfield, Greg (Jennifer) Webb, Josh Webb, Amy (Kyle) Heydeman, Darcie Banfield, Dawn Banfield, Misti (Jim) Vignola, and Ami (Joe) Cudd; his great-grandchildren, Turner, Caleb, Zander, Landon, Lucas, Natalie, Max, and Briahna; and one great-granddaughter on the way; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frank Banfield and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frank Banfield as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
