SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Elmer L. Bradbury of Perry, who passed
4away on April 17, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was born to Homer and Bertie
6Bradbury in Perry on March 15, 1920; he married Freida Marie
7Orr in Perry in May 1941, and she preceded him in death on July
828, 1998; until recently, he lived in or near Perry his entire
9life; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was a farmer, banker, real estate
11appraiser, and John Deere dealer; he started the John Deere
12Dealership in Perry in 1947; in later years, he worked for the
13bank in Griggsville; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury served in a volunteer capacity in
15many groups and organizations, including Illini Hospital, the
16Pike County Health Department, and the Perry School District
17Boards; he was clerk of the Session for the Perry Presbyterian
18Church and treasurer of the Perry Cemetery Association for six
19decades; he served as township trustee for 30 years; he also
20served on boards and had memberships in the Pike County Red
21Cross, the Cancer Society, the Heart Association, the Cherokee
22District Boy Scouts, the 4H Federation, the Farm Bureau, the

1Extension Service, the Illinois Federation of Square Dancers,
2the Perry School Foundation, the Western Illinois Fair Board,
3the Mental Health Board, the Country Couples Club, and the
4Order of the Eastern Star; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was a 77-year member of Perry
6Lodge #95, the Quincy Consistory, the Pike County Shrine Club,
7and Ansar Shrine, and he was very proud his sons and his
8grandsons became Masons; he entertained as a clown in parades
9and at hospitals and camps for children with special needs for
10over 35 years; many times, he was joined by his grandsons; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was very proud of his entire
12family and was their biggest fan; he was known for his sense of
13humor and his ability to pull a prank; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was preceded in death by his
15parents; his wife; his sisters, Ethel Cooley and Verna
16Cannall; his sons, John Wesley Bradbury and Kenneth Wayne
17Bradbury; and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Bradbury; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury is survived by his son, Keith
19Bradbury; his grandsons, Douglas Bradbury (Jennifer) and David
20Bradbury (Dr. Allison); and his great-grandchildren, Hope
21Kathryn Bradbury, Hendrick Wesley Bradbury, Kendall Jean
22Bradbury, and Vaughn Martin Bradbury; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Elmer L. Bradbury and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Elmer Bradbury as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
