SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Virginia Eileen Davenport of
4Bethalto, who passed away on April 16, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was born to Hal Griffith and
6Opal (King) Edwards in Athensville on March 1, 1933; she
7graduated from Alton Memorial Nursing School in 1953; she
8married Billy Davenport in Wood River on May 23, 1953, and he
9preceded her in death; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport worked as a nurse for 25
11years; she most recently worked at Eunice Smith before
12retiring; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was a member of the First
14Baptist Church in Bethalto; she enjoyed reading and solving
15puzzles; in her younger years, she also enjoyed sewing
16clothing; she loved her family most of all and enjoyed
17spending time with them; she will be remembered for her
18wonderful sense of humor; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband, Billy; her sister, Marjorie Stull; and
21her brother, Harry Griffith; and

1    WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport is survived by her children,
2Steve Davenport (Lynn), Barb Caffrey (Jim), Sue Moradi (Ali),
3and June Blankenship (Paul); her grandchildren, Celia Montes
4(Johnny Bowman), Sophie Page (Josh), Tess Davenport, Hannah
5Davenport (Nigel Lee), Nora Davenport, Michael Wesley
6(Courtney), Erin Bickle (Rob), Stephen Wesley, Kevon Moradi
7(Hillary), Daniel Moradi (Danielle), Comron Moradi (Rachel),
8Zamaneh Zamanian (Jeremy Johnson), and Amanda Blankenship; her
913 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Virginia Eileen Davenport and extend our sincere condolences
14to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Virginia Davenport as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
