SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Virginia Eileen Davenport of Bethalto, who passed away on April 16, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was born to Hal Griffith and Opal (King) Edwards in Athensville on March 1, 1933; she graduated from Alton Memorial Nursing School in 1953; she married Billy Davenport in Wood River on May 23, 1953, and he preceded her in death; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport worked as a nurse for 25 years; she most recently worked at Eunice Smith before retiring; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethalto; she enjoyed reading and solving puzzles; in her younger years, she also enjoyed sewing clothing; she loved her family most of all and enjoyed spending time with them; she will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy; her sister, Marjorie Stull; and her brother, Harry Griffith; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport is survived by her children, Steve Davenport (Lynn), Barb Caffrey (Jim), Sue Moradi (Ali), and June Blankenship (Paul); her grandchildren, Celia Montes (Johnny Bowman), Sophie Page (Josh), Tess Davenport, Hannah Davenport (Nigel Lee), Nora Davenport, Michael Wesley (Courtney), Erin Bickle (Rob), Stephen Wesley, Kevon Moradi (Hillary), Daniel Moradi (Danielle), Comron Moradi (Rachel), Zamaneh Zamanian (Jeremy Johnson), and Amanda Blankenship; her 13 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Virginia Eileen Davenport and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Virginia Davenport as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
