SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given
4their lives in service to their communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Trooper Richard G. Warner was shot and killed by
6a suicidal man at Illinois State Police Headquarters District
75 in Lockport on April 21, 1969; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Trooper Warner was a 12-year veteran of the
9Illinois State Police; and
 
10    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Trooper Warner was
11survived by his wife and four children; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
14REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the
15section of Illinois Route 53 that passes by Illinois State
16Police Headquarters District 5 in Lockport as the "Trooper
17Richard G. Warner Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
19is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
20State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs

1giving notice of the name of the "Trooper Richard G. Warner
2Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Trooper Warner, the Mayor of
5Lockport, and the Secretary of Transportation.
