SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

Authorizes the Director of the Department of Natural Resources to deliver a quitclaim deed for 4 properties at the Bishop Hill Historic Site for $1, subject to specified conditions. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning property.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Director of the Department of Natural Resources, on behalf of the State of Illinois, is authorized to execute and deliver to the Bishop Hill Heritage Association a quitclaim deed for 4 properties at the Bishop Hill Historic Site, including Colony Church, the Bjorklund Hotel, the Ox Boy's Dormitory, and the 1849 Colony Park, for and in consideration of $1.

Section 10.

(a) Upon the payment of the sum of $1 to the State of Illinois, and subject to the conditions set forth in subsection (b), the Director of the Department of Natural Resources, on behalf of the State of Illinois and the Department of Natural Resources, shall convey by quitclaim deed all right, title, and interest of the State of Illinois and the Department of Natural Resources in and to the properties listed in Section 5 to the Bishop Hill Heritage Association.

(b) The conveyance of real property authorized by Section 5 shall be made subject to existing public utilities, existing public roads, and any and all reservations, easements, encumbrances, covenants, and restrictions of record.

(c) The quitclaim deed to the Bishop Hill Heritage Association shall state on its face and be subject to the conditions that the properties shall be used by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association for the remodeling and renovation of the properties to keep with the historic nature of the Bishop Hill Historic Site in consultation with the Department of Natural Resources and that if the Bishop Hill Historic Site ceases to exist, if the properties are used for any purposes other than the remodeling and renovation of the properties to keep with the historic nature of the Bishop Hill Historic Site, or if an attempt is made to sell the properties, then title shall revert without further action to the State of Illinois.

Section 15. The Director of the Department of Natural Resources shall prepare one or more quitclaim deeds to convey the properties. The Director may also record a certified copy of this Act. Each quitclaim deed shall reference this Act and contain the reversionary language from subsection (c) of Section 10. All documents of conveyance shall be recorded in the county in which the land is located.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
