SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 305/120 new

    Amends the University of Illinois Act. Requires the Board of Trustees to ensure that any location in this State that operates under the authority of the University of Illinois or within the University of Illinois system and that provides, serves, offers, sells, or otherwise makes food products available for human consumption is subject to certification and regulation by the local health department. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5adding Section 120 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/120 new)
7    Sec. 120. Food service. The Board of Trustees shall ensure
8that any location in this State that operates under the
9authority of the University of Illinois or within the
10University of Illinois system and that provides, serves,
11offers, sells, or otherwise makes food products available for
12human consumption is subject to certification and regulation
13by the local health department, including, but not limited to,
14the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District for the University
15of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Chicago Department of
16Public Health for the University of Illinois at Chicago, the
17Sangamon County Department of Public Health for the University
18of Illinois at Springfield, or any other local health
19department as may be appropriate. Locations subject to the
20provisions of this Section, include, but are not limited to,
21cafeterias, student unions, dormitories, football stadiums,
22and assembly halls.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
