HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Chanel Renee Wilson, who passed away on November 2, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Chanel Wilson was born to Sylvia (Price) and Dennis Wilson in Naperville on October 15, 1997; committing to her faith at an early age, she attended Aurora Christian School and graduated from Aurora Central Catholic High School; she earned a scholarship to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services; shortly after graduating from Creighton, she earned her National EMS Certification as a paramedic; and

WHEREAS, Chanel Wilson began working for Delnor-Northwestern Hospital in Geneva in the fall of 2021; she enjoyed working as an Emergency Medical Technician in the Emergency Room, as she loved her job and colleagues; at the time of her passing, she was planning to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing; and

WHEREAS, Chanel Wilson loved adventure and new experiences; she enjoyed doing things outdoors and had visited Alaska and Colorado; she enjoyed riding dirt-bikes with her dad, playing guitar, all kinds of sports, and photography; she had a loving and giving spirit and would go out of her way to help others; and

WHEREAS, Chanel Wilson was preceded in death by her older sister, Cherisse Wilson; her grandparents; and her aunts, Lauta (Alvin) Joyner (Alvin) and Carmelita Price; and

WHEREAS, Chanel Wilson is survived by her parents; her sisters, Chelsea Wilson (fiancée Kenneth Miller) and Tiana Ashley; her nephews, Paul and Josiah Amos; her niece, Amor Amos; her cousins, Kasmirah (Derick) Scarbrough, Lyden Joyner, Koah Scarbrough, Andrea (Timothy) Harris, and Gregory Mines; her aunt, Pamela Mines; her uncles, Alvin Joyner and Michael Wilson; her great-aunt, Aunt Dorothy; and a host of other family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Chanel Renee Wilson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chanel Wilson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
