HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Henry Lee Darden, who passed away on October 23, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Henry Lee Darden was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on March 9, 1936; he graduated from Jean Bapiste Point DuSable High School in Chicago; he served in the U.S. Air Force; and

WHEREAS, Henry Lee Darden worked as a steel worker and served as a union steward at the Reynolds Metal Company; and

WHEREAS, Henry Lee Darden enjoyed bowling, watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Henry Lee Darden was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Darden; his parents, Henry and Mary Darden; his sister, Willa Mae Williams; and his brother, Obero "Bo" Darden; and

WHEREAS, Henry Lee Darden is survived by his children, Edwin (Kathie) Darden, Kimberly (Anthony) Williams, Jacqueline Harvey, and Teresa Barrow; his siblings, Lillie (Donald) Rucker Merrill, Caroline Thomas, Tilman (Ella) Darden, Cynthia (David) Tribble, and Charles (Vanessa) Darden; his grandchildren, Edwin Jr., Zion, Trinitee, Ryan, Korian, Jonathan, Chloe, Jilandre, Jalen, Jakari, Jarell, and Jekhi; his great-grandchildren; his niece and nephews; and his other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Henry Lee Darden and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Lee Darden as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
