HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Diane Brockmeier on the occasion of her retirement as president and chief executive officer of Mid-America Transplant, the federally designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) for 28 counties in the Metro East area and throughout Southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier received her Diploma in Nursing from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University; she earned her Master of Arts in Healthcare Administration from Webster University; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has served as president and CEO of Mid-America Transplant since 2016; she has been with the organization for over 35 years, serving first as a nurse and organ procurement coordinator before rising through the ranks to become president and CEO in February 2016; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has steered strategic operations for Mid-America Transplant, including key partnerships with more than 120 hospitals and transplant centers located throughout Metro East, Southern Illinois, Missouri, and northeast Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's key accomplishments have included supervising the design, construction, and use of a first-in-the-nation, on-site surgical suite for organ and tissue recovery, which has led to praise by donor hospitals and transplant surgeons for its enhanced quality control and efficiency; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's leadership has overseen the largest industry experience in the utilization of free-standing Organ Recovery Centers, which includes over 2,500 organ donors, with increasing donor management research efforts to drive improved outcomes while maintaining some of the lowest organ acquisition charges in the nation; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has been instrumental in quality and organizational changes that resulted in Mid-America Transplant being awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2015 and again in 2021, becoming the first organization in the industry to be awarded the prestigious honor twice; under her direction, Mid-America Transplant's journey with Baldrige has led to lifesaving changes, including more than doubling the number of organs transplanted; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's accolades have included winning the Healthcare Excellence Award from the Healthcare Business Women Association in 2016 and being named one of the Most Influential Business Women in St. Louis by the St. Louis Business Journal in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has engaged in a variety of charitable efforts, including serving as a mentor for the LINC Collaborative, the Midwest Excellence Institute, and the Quality Texas Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's professional affiliations and board memberships have included AlloSource, the Malcolm Baldrige Foundation, Life Logics, the Foundation for Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the United Network for Organ Sharing, and the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations; and

WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier will officially retire as president and chief executive officer of Mid-America Transplant in January 2023, leaving a legacy of leadership and excellence; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Diane Brockmeier on the occasion of her retirement and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Diane Brockmeier as an expression of our esteem and respect.
