HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Diane Brockmeier on the
4occasion of her retirement as president and chief executive
5officer of Mid-America Transplant, the federally designated
6Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) for 28 counties in the
7Metro East area and throughout Southern Illinois; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier received her Diploma in Nursing
9from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelor
10of Science in Nursing from Webster University; she earned her
11Master of Arts in Healthcare Administration from Webster
12University; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has served as president and CEO
14of Mid-America Transplant since 2016; she has been with the
15organization for over 35 years, serving first as a nurse and
16organ procurement coordinator before rising through the ranks
17to become president and CEO in February 2016; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has steered strategic operations
19for Mid-America Transplant, including key partnerships with
20more than 120 hospitals and transplant centers located
21throughout Metro East, Southern Illinois, Missouri, and
22northeast Arkansas; and

1    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's key accomplishments have
2included supervising the design, construction, and use of a
3first-in-the-nation, on-site surgical suite for organ and
4tissue recovery, which has led to praise by donor hospitals
5and transplant surgeons for its enhanced quality control and
6efficiency; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's leadership has overseen the
8largest industry experience in the utilization of
9free-standing Organ Recovery Centers, which includes over
102,500 organ donors, with increasing donor management research
11efforts to drive improved outcomes while maintaining some of
12the lowest organ acquisition charges in the nation; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has been instrumental in quality
14and organizational changes that resulted in Mid-America
15Transplant being awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
16Award in 2015 and again in 2021, becoming the first
17organization in the industry to be awarded the prestigious
18honor twice; under her direction, Mid-America Transplant's
19journey with Baldrige has led to lifesaving changes, including
20more than doubling the number of organs transplanted; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's accolades have included
22winning the Healthcare Excellence Award from the Healthcare

1Business Women Association in 2016 and being named one of the
2Most Influential Business Women in St. Louis by the St. Louis
3Business Journal in 2017; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier has engaged in a variety of
5charitable efforts, including serving as a mentor for the LINC
6Collaborative, the Midwest Excellence Institute, and the
7Quality Texas Foundation; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier's professional affiliations and
9board memberships have included AlloSource, the Malcolm
10Baldrige Foundation, Life Logics, the Foundation for Narrative
11Inquiry in Bioethics, the American College of Healthcare
12Executives, the United Network for Organ Sharing, and the
13Association of Organ Procurement Organizations; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Diane Brockmeier will officially retire as
15president and chief executive officer of Mid-America
16Transplant in January 2023, leaving a legacy of leadership and
17excellence; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Diane Brockmeier on the occasion of her
21retirement and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and
22be it further
