HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Dorothy Meyer on the occasion of her retirement and thank her for her service to St. Clair County; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer was born to Edward and Helen Winkeler in Belleville on August 17, 1957; she married David Meyer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Belleville on November 26, 1976 and spent 29 loving years with him before his passing; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer is a proud and devoted mother to her children, Chris and Lori, and to her daughter-in-law, Jenny, and son-in-law, J Bryan; she is a terrific and supportive "Cha Cha" to her two grandchildren, Tyler and Sam; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer worked at Memorial Hospital as a public relations assistant for 18 years; she began her career at St. Clair County in 2005 as liaison to the county board chairman and eventually became the executive secretary to the county board chairman in 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer has always been active in her community; she served as an alderman for Ward 2 in Belleville from 1997 to 2013 and volunteered at Art on the Square, Oktoberfest, and the Chili Cook-Off; she is a member of the Moose, the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce, and the CWV Ladies Auxiliary; she is the director of the St. Clair County Office on Aging; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer has a contagious laugh and is friendly to everyone she meets; she will be missed by her co-workers, especially the fifth floor B wing; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Meyer will now be able to spend her time traveling, riding in her convertible, and enjoying every minute of every day with her friends and family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dorothy Meyer on her retirement, thank her for her service to St. Clair County, and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dorothy Meyer as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
