HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy
4Marie Nozicka, who passed away on July 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was born in Berwyn in 1958; she was
6raised in the nearby town of Cicero, where she lived until her
7early 20s; she graduated from Morton East High School, where
8she played badminton and volleyball; she later earned her
9undergraduate degree in Nursing from Loyola University
10Chicago; she married Charles "Chuck" Nozicka, and they enjoyed
11a 40-year marriage and raised four children; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka had a 38-year career in nursing at
13Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, where she was a walking
14embodiment of patient-centered care; after decades of
15experience in the Emergency Department, she pursued her Master
16of Science to become an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
17(APRN); she worked as a clinical nurse specialist in the
18Emergency Department, and she later pioneered the role as her
19hospital's first heart failure coordinator, a position she
20viewed as honoring the lived experiences of her beloved
21father; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was an active member of St.

1Joseph's Catholic Church in Libertyville; she loved long walks
2in the mornings, improvised yard games in the afternoons, and
3evenings spent sharing good food and better stories at a table
4that always had enough seats for everyone; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was a loving wife, mother,
6daughter, and grandmother who loved hard, laughed often, and
7dedicated her life to quiet acts of big impact for others; she
8will be remembered for her good humor, strong faith, optimism,
9and her humble way of anticipating the needs of others and
10putting all around her at ease; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was preceded in death by her
12father, Edward Koscik; her mother-in-law, JoAnn Nozicka; and
13her cousin, Susan Rynne; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka is survived by her mother, Claire
15Koscik; her brother, Robert (Roni); her sister, Amy (Paul)
16Eberhardt; her husband, Charles Nozicka; her daughters, Nicole
17Gas (Kevin) and Laura Nozicka (Brian); her sons, Peter and
18Michael Nozicka; her grandchildren, Eddie, Alice, and Caroline
19Gas; and her numerous nephews, cousins, colleagues, mentees,
20and friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we mourn the passing of Nancy Marie Nozicka and extend our
2sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
3and loved her; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Nancy Nozicka as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
