HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Larry Milby on the occasion of his retirement from Illinois State University (ISU); and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby joined ISU as a grounds worker in 1991; during his tenure, he has held the position of grounds foreman and currently serves as assistant superintendent of grounds; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby has been instrumental in the maintenance and long term growth of Fell Arboretum, which today stretches across over 400 acres of the campus and contains approximately 2,000 trees, with most of them native to the State of Illinois; during his career, ISU was recognized as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in 2008 and continues to hold that recognition today; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby has served his community of Downs as assistant fire chief for 25 years and the entire McLean County as assistant coroner since 1990, aiding in the most serious events in family life, assisting in communication of precious life and death moments, and cleaning accident sites with dignity and respect; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby has worked tirelessly with the Town of Normal as they collaboratively coordinated community events and maintained streets, sidewalks, and parking lots throughout campus; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby has devoted his life to his faith and serves on several committees at Eastview Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby has the distinction of knowing every square inch of the ISU grounds and is well regarded for his vast institutional knowledge, informed decision making, commitment to promoting a positive workplace environment, and his down to Earth demeanor; and

WHEREAS, Larry Milby will celebrate his retirement at a reception on April 29, 2022; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Larry Milby on his retirement from Illinois State University and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Larry Milby as an expression of our esteem and respect.
