| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Nancy Tenner on her 50 years | 4 | | of professional and volunteer work in the field of early | 5 | | childhood education and social services; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Inspired by the late Senator Robert Kennedy's | 7 | | commitment to public service and assisting the less fortunate, | 8 | | Nancy Tenner has dedicated her time and energy to helping | 9 | | children and vulnerable communities; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Early in her career, Nancy Tenner volunteered to | 11 | | tutor children at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in | 12 | | Chicago and the St. Charles School and Home for Boys; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Professionally, Nancy Tenner taught and cared for | 14 | | young children at a number of facilities, including the | 15 | | Central Day Care in Rockford, the New Morning Co-Op Early | 16 | | Education Program in DeKalb, the Peter Pan Preschool and Day | 17 | | Care in Naperville, and the Naperville YMCA; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Nancy Tenner has volunteered | 19 | | to help senior citizens, including serving as a candy striper | 20 | | and assisting health care providers and patients in La Grange, | 21 | | at the Riverwalk Adult Day Services in Naperville, and in the |

| 1 | | community by lending individual seniors a helping hand; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Tenner has volunteered with numerous | 3 | | service organizations, including Mother Sunshine in DeKalb; | 4 | | she has participated in social justice initiatives of the | 5 | | DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church and supported | 6 | | organizations, including Amnesty International, the | 7 | | International Rescue Committee, and Spay Illinois, which works | 8 | | to end pet homelessness; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 10 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we recognize Nancy Tenner on her 50 years of professional and | 12 | | volunteer work in the field of early childhood education and | 13 | | social services, and we extend our deepest gratitude and | 14 | | appreciation for her service to children and vulnerable | 15 | | communities throughout the State of Illinois; and be it | 16 | | further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to Nancy Tenner as a symbol of our respect and | 19 | | esteem.
