HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Aunt Martha's Health and Wellness on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, Aunt Martha's was founded in 1972 and since then has been a place where communities come together and support one another; 50 years later, it continues to be a place for people to come together and be a part of a vision ensuring that everyone has access to high quality health and wellness care, leading to better social and emotional health; and

WHEREAS, Today, Aunt Martha's is the third largest community health center in Illinois; it has had more than 1.5 million visitors since 2001 and is the largest provider of dental and behavioral services among community health centers in Illinois; it serves three and a half times as many uninsured patients as the average community health center in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Aunt Martha's has helped 2,000 abused and neglected children receive shelter, health care, and care coordination services and is Illinois' largest provider of services to families in crisis; and

WHEREAS, Aunt Martha's outreach services has connected 3,000 homeless children, youth, and adults to shelter, health care, employment training, and independent living programs, and 1,200 preschool, elementary, and high school children have received education and community-based services; more than 3,000 people have completed employment programs and have gotten jobs in their home communities; and

WHEREAS, After 50 years of service, Aunt Martha's is just getting started; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Aunt Martha's Health and Wellness on its 50th anniversary, and we wish it many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Aunt Martha's as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
