HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Dennis Litwiler on the occasion of his retirement from the Aledo Fire Protection District; and

WHEREAS, Chief Litwiler joined the Aledo Fire Protection District on February 1, 1978; he was appointed fire chief on December 4, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Chief Litwiler held several officer positions in the Aledo Fire Protection District prior to his appointment to fire chief in 2001, including serving as a member on the Mississippi Valley Firefighters Association Board of Directors and the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) 39 Board, covering Lower Rock Island County, Henry County, and Mercer County; and

WHEREAS, Chief Litwiler was a 20-year member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; he was also involved locally in the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) for the Mercer County Emergency Management Agency; he adopted the Everyone Goes Home Life Safety Initiatives by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which strives to prevent firefighter line-of-duty deaths or injuries; and

WHEREAS, Chief Litwiler's primary concerns were always for the safety of his firefighters and for protecting the public from the dangers of fire; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Fire Chief Dennis Litwiler on his retirement from the Aledo Fire Protection District, and we commend his lifetime of service to the community of Aledo and the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Chief Dennis Litwiler and the Aledo Fire Protection District as an expression of our esteem and respect.
