HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4Chris-Tia Donaldson, who passed away on November 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was born in 1979; she
6received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard
7University; she earned her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law
8School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was the founder and chief
10executive officer of Thank God It's Natural (tgin), a
11manufacturer of natural hair and skin care products, which she
12established in September 2006; she oversaw all aspects of
13operations, including product development, social media, sales
14and marketing, human resources, legal, and accounting; she
15also negotiated distribution agreements and managed purchase
16orders, promotional campaigns, and store growth strategy; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Prior to starting her own company, Chris-Tia
18Donaldson served as senior corporate counsel at Oracle for 10
19years, where she negotiated complex business transactions
20involving technology and open source code and advised C-suite
21executives on the business and legal ramifications of matters
22of law, regulation, policy, and strategy; she also provided

1legal support to Global Business Operations, including product
2development, regulatory, marketing, procurement, corporate
3finance, auditing, bankruptcy, and employment divisions; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was deeply committed to
5raising breast cancer awareness and the benefits of early
6detection among women of color; she founded the not for profit
7tgin Foundation to support uninsured women undergoing
8treatment for breast cancer, highlight the impact of health
9disparities on survivor outcomes, and stress the importance of
10early detection for women under the age of 40; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson will be greatly missed; her
12legacy will live on; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Chris-Tia Donaldson and extend our
16sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
17and loved her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Chris-Tia Donaldson as an
20expression of our deepest sympathy.
