HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Chris-Tia Donaldson, who passed away on November 13, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was born in 1979; she received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University; she earned her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School; and

WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was the founder and chief executive officer of Thank God It's Natural (tgin), a manufacturer of natural hair and skin care products, which she established in September 2006; she oversaw all aspects of operations, including product development, social media, sales and marketing, human resources, legal, and accounting; she also negotiated distribution agreements and managed purchase orders, promotional campaigns, and store growth strategy; and

WHEREAS, Prior to starting her own company, Chris-Tia Donaldson served as senior corporate counsel at Oracle for 10 years, where she negotiated complex business transactions involving technology and open source code and advised C-suite executives on the business and legal ramifications of matters of law, regulation, policy, and strategy; she also provided legal support to Global Business Operations, including product development, regulatory, marketing, procurement, corporate finance, auditing, bankruptcy, and employment divisions; and

WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson was deeply committed to raising breast cancer awareness and the benefits of early detection among women of color; she founded the not for profit tgin Foundation to support uninsured women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, highlight the impact of health disparities on survivor outcomes, and stress the importance of early detection for women under the age of 40; and

WHEREAS, Chris-Tia Donaldson will be greatly missed; her legacy will live on; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Chris-Tia Donaldson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chris-Tia Donaldson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
