HOUSE RESOLUTION

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Task Force on Foster Youth Transitioning Out of Care is hereby created; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force is charged with the task of investigating the decline in foster youth living successful lives after transitioning out of care and with developing recommendations for DCFS on how to improve the transition for people leaving foster care, as well as a time frame for DCFS to implement these recommendations; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall consist of the following 10 members, who shall serve without compensation:

(1) The Director of DCFS or his or her designee, who shall serve as Chair of the Task Force;

(2) The Chairman of the Office of the State Appellate Defender Board of Commissioners or his or her designee;

(3) Two previous foster children who have transitioned out of care appointed by the Governor;

(4) Three members of the Illinois House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House; and

(5) Three members of the Illinois House of Representatives appointed by the House Minority Leader; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Department of Children and Family Services shall provide administrative support for the Task Force; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall meet once a month following the appointment of the members and shall continue to meet once a month for the duration of the 102nd General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall submit its final report no later than the final day of the 102nd General Assembly and is dissolved upon the filing.
