HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of George
4"Bunny" Allen Dixon Jr., who passed away on October 14, 2021;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, George Dixon was born on August 1, 1959 to George
7Allen Dixon and Catherine Ann Dixon and gained his nickname of
8Bunny from a song his mother sang to him; as a child, he
9attended Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of the
10Bishop John S. Holly; he attended Sbarbaro Elementary School,
11now Arthur Ashe, and later graduated from Chicago Public High
12School; he married Cassandra Micenhamer in 1982; building upon
13his interests in business and machinery, he enrolled in
14various educational and training programs, including Olive
15Harvey City College, and earned his Certificate of Maintenance
16Technology (HVAC) from Environmental Technical Institute; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Dixon served for more than 40 years as a
18machine operator, working for various companies, including
19Electro Motive, a division of General Motors, Continental
20White Cap, and Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, from
21which he retired; in keeping with his father's philosophy of
22having multiple streams of income, he founded Green Acres,
23which provided landscaping, snow removal, and property

1management services to residential and commercial clients,
2including a host of elected officials and local businesses;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, George Dixon loved being with family and friends
5for social gatherings, movie nights, and dinner outings,
6especially during the holidays and on milestone occasions
7where it wouldn't be a good time for him if he didn't spark a
8debate or an argument about something; he was a man of routine
9and enjoyed his daily hot cup of coffee while speaking with
10whomever was available before 7 a.m.; he had an infectious
11spirit and sense of humor and a zest for life, which always
12made him the life of the party and a friend to many; and
 
13    WHEREAS, George Dixon was preceded in death by his sister,
14Patricia Ann; and
 
15    WHEREAS, George Dixon is survived by his wife; his son,
16Christopher Dixon; his sisters, Lynn Dixon and Shari Dixon;
17his brothers, Darryl Dixon and Eric (Nikki) Dixon; his nieces
18and nephews, La Toya Dixon, Jenelle Taylor, Jalen Spight,
19Jordan Spight, Jaleah Fowler, Darius Costello, Johnetta Burks,
20and Precious Burks; and a host of other relatives, colleagues,
21and loving friends; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we mourn the passing of George "Bunny" Allen Dixon Jr. and
3extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
4who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of George Dixon as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
