HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th
4year at the Riverside Golf Club (RGC) and on being inducted
5into the Western Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame on
6September 17th, 2021; and
 
7    WHEREAS, An Oak Park native, Karl Bollnow began his tenure
8at RGC in 1971, at the age of 13, after following some friends
9to the club to look for jobs as caddies; he caddied throughout
10high school and as he attended DePaul University, including
11caddying in the Western Open for champion Tom Watson in 1975;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow began working in the golf shop at
14RGC in 1976; he served under the longtime club pro Bill Heald
15for whom a PGA career achievement award is named; the
16following year, he became caddiemaster and, one year after
17that, he became the assistant pro; upon Bill Heald's
18retirement in 1996, he became the head professional and has
19served in that position ever since; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow has overseen thousands of young
21people who have moved through the club as caddies, and over 300
22have gone on to full college scholarships through the Evans

1Scholars program or the club's own Memorial Scholarship
2program; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Other RGC Hall of Fame members include Bill
4Murray, Peter Ueberroth, Charles Schwab, Jack Nicklaus, Chick
5Evans, and Tom Watson; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th year at the
9Riverside Golf Club and on being inducted into the Western
10Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Karl Bollnow as a symbol of our esteem and
13respect.
