HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas
4"Tommy" Lee of Chicago, who passed away on February 27, 2020;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was born in Chicago on November 23,
71951; he served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Dixon, New Jersey but
8was otherwise a lifelong Chicagoan; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee spent most of his career as an
10employee of AT&T; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was an active member of the American
12Legion Chinatown Post 1003; he was a former commander who had
13been elected to a term in the 1990s; every year during the
14Chinatown Summer Fair, he volunteered at the Post's beer tent;
15during the annual Chinatown Lunar New Year's parade, he was
16part of the color guard ceremony with the Chinese American
17Veterans of the American Legion Chinatown Post; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a longtime, committed volunteer at
19the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, even prior to its
20founding; he helped with exhibitions, the maintenance of the
21facilities, and any tasks that needed to be completed around

1the museum; after performing his color guard duties, he would
2join the Chinese American Museum's float at the Chinatown
3Lunar New Year's Parade; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a dedicated member of the Chinese
5American Citizens Alliance and helped with events and anything
6the organization needed; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a proud member of the Chicago
8Chinatown community who was generous with his time and
9talents; in his free time, in addition to serving as a
10volunteer and a handyman around the community, he enjoyed
11dining in Chinatown restaurants; and
 
12    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Thomas Lee was
13survived by his three siblings, Susan, Earl, and Mary, and his
14numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Thomas "Tommy" Lee and extend our
18sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
19and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Thomas Lee as an expression of our
