1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the 2020-2021 Lake Land
4 College Women's Basketball Team, the Lakers, on their
5 outstanding season this past year; and

6     WHEREAS, The Lakers had a final record of 25-2, which
7 featured wins against 10 nationally ranked opponents and a 16
8 game winning streak; and

9     WHEREAS, The Lakers closed the season with a 53-49 win
10 against the Johnson County Cavaliers to secure the program's
11 first ever NJCAA National Championship; and

12     WHEREAS, The Lake Land College women also won the NJCAA
13 Region 24 Championship and the NJCAA District Central A
14 Championship on their way to the National Championship; and

15     WHEREAS, The Lake Land College Women's Basketball Team is
16 coached by Dave Johnson, who was named NJCAA Division II
17 Women's Basketball Coach of the Year and NJCAA Nationals Coach
18 of the Tournament; and

19     WHEREAS, The Lakers were led by star players Kamaria Gant,
20 an NJCAA All-American, Tre'soir Newson, who was named to the

1 NJCAA National All-Tournament Team, and Harley Barry, who
2 earned the NJCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player
3 Award; and

4     WHEREAS, The Lake Land College Women's Basketball Team was
5 successful off the court as well; they posted a team Grade
6 Point Average of 3.48 and had five Academic All-Americans; and

7     WHEREAS, The Lake Land College Women's Basketball Team
8 perfectly exemplified what it means to be student-athletes by
9 excelling both on the basketball court and in the classroom;
10 therefore; therefore, be it

11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12 HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we congratulate the Lake Land College Women's Basketball Team,
14 the Lakers, for winning the NCJAA National Championship and
15 for their season as a whole; and be it further

16     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17 presented to the members and coaches of the Lake Land College
18 Women's Basketball Team as symbol of our esteem and respect.
