HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Chicago Public Library's Austin-Irving Branch Library and its staff on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library opened in Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood on December 8, 2001; and

WHEREAS, The 15,500 square-foot Austin-Irving Branch Library immediately expanded services for local residents, replacing a 1,254 square-foot storefront branch; and

WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library houses a large collection of materials, including books for all ages, newspapers, periodicals, and access to 21st century learning; and

WHEREAS, The dedicated staff of the Austin-Irving Branch Library have provided countless hours of valuable service to the residents and students of the Portage Park neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library will continue to be a neighborhood centerpiece that encourages lifelong learning; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Austin-Irving Branch Library and its staff on its 20th anniversary, thank the staff for their work in the community, and wish the library many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Austin-Irving Branch Library as an expression of our esteem and respect.
