HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Chicago Public Library's Dunning Branch Library and its staff on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library opened on land donated by the Chicago Board of Education on May 6, 2011; and

WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library serves a community that takes its name from an area originally settled just after the Civil War by Andrew Dunning, a farmer-turned-real estate developer; and

WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library's forward-thinking structure was granted gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System; and

WHEREAS, Since its opening, the Dunning Branch Library has served as a 21st century hub of learning and growth for the community; and

WHEREAS, The staff of the Dunning Branch Library have provided years of service by assisting members of the community and local students; and

WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library will continue to be a valuable neighborhood resource that encourages lifelong learning; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Dunning Branch Library and its employees on its 10th anniversary, thank the staff for their work in the community, and wish the library many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Dunning Branch Library as an expression of our esteem and respect.
