1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, There are thousands of Pet Partners therapy
3 animal teams serving in communities across the United States;
4 and

5     WHEREAS, Pet Partners has designated April 30 as National
6 Therapy Animal Day; and

7     WHEREAS, Pet Partners therapy animal teams in Illinois
8 play an essential role in improving human health and
9 well-being through the human-animal bond; and

10     WHEREAS, Pet Partners therapy animal teams make millions
11 of visits per year in settings such as hospitals, nursing
12 homes, schools and hospice; and

13     WHEREAS, Pet Partners therapy animal teams interact with a
14 variety of people in Illinois, including veterans, seniors,
15 patients, students facing literacy challenges, and those
16 approaching the end of life; and

17     WHEREAS, These exceptional therapy animals who partner
18 with their human companions bring comfort and healing to those
19 in need; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2 HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we declare April 30, 2021 to be Therapy Animal Day in the State
4 of Illinois; and be it further

5     RESOLVED, That members of the Illinois House publicly
6 salute the service of therapy animal teams in Illinois and
7 across the nation, and we encourage all Illinoisans to
8 celebrate therapy animals and their human handlers.
