HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ron Cox on the occasion of his retirement as President of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Illinois Joint Conference on April 29, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Ron Cox has held the position of president with the ATU since 2005; and

WHEREAS, Ron Cox graduated from Manual High School in Peoria in 1975 and went to work for the Greater Peoria Mass Transit in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Ron Cox became president of ATU Local 412 in July 1998; he served on the Peoria Labor Council for 20 years, serving as president for one year; he also served on the Labor Temple Board for 20 years and worked with the United Way representing labor unions; and

WHEREAS, Ron Cox has been married to his wife, Sharon Biegler Cox, for 41 years; he enjoys riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time at home by the pool with Sharon; he also holds a Black belt in Tae Keon Do; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ron Cox on his retirement as President of the Amalgamated Transit Union Illinois Joint Conference, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ron Cox as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
