HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James
4"Jim" M. Long; and
 
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Long joined the Westmont Park Board in 1982
6and served as a park commissioner for 39 years; he was involved
7in every discussion, negotiation, policy decision, and
8visionary action that was shaped by the district over his 39
9years of service; he was one of those rare individuals who was
10happy to remain in the background, letting others receive the
11accolades, even though he was one of the greatest influences
12on the growth, direction, and success of the Westmont Park
13District; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 2020, Jim Long was recognized as the Westmont
15Citizen of the Year and the Illinois Association of Park
16Districts Mike Cassidy Outstanding Board Member; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Long was preceded in death by his loving
18parents, John and Ruth Long and his siblings, John (Colleen)
19Long Jr., Thomas (Kyra) Long, Robert Long, Susan (David) Kolb,
20and Julie (Beau) Jones; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Long is survived by his wife, Kathy M. Devlin
2Long; his children, Kristin (John) Creighton, James (Gosia)
3Long, and Jennifer (Michael) Kavanagh; and his grandchildren,
4Aidan and Liam Creighton, John Long, Regina Cichy, Monika
5Wood, and Michael, James, Patrick, and Emma Kavanagh;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn the passing of James "Jim" M. Long and extend our
10sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
11and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Long as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
