HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred
4Bowden, who passed away on December 12, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden was born in Apex, North Carolina
6on April 8, 1921; she was 18 months old when she arrived in
7Chicago and lived on the South Side of Chicago since that time;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden worked at the Rhumboggie Cafe on
1055th Street, which was owned by boxing great Joe Louis; she
11also worked as an intake supervisor at Cook County Hospital
12for 30 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden life spanned 19 presidents, 18
14governors, and 16 mayors; her favorite president was Theodore
15Roosevelt, because she felt that every American benefited from
16his service; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden was a faithful member of and
18fundraiser for Christ Universal Temple; she especially loved
19celebrating Christmas and served her family Christmas dinner
20for 50 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden was the mother of Hermene Hartman;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we mourn the passing of Mildred Bowden and extend our sincere
6condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7her; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Mildred Bowden as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
