1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Uniform Recognition of Acknowledgments Act
5is amended by changing Section 6 as follows:
 
6    (765 ILCS 30/6)  (from Ch. 30, par. 226)
7    Sec. 6. Certificate of acknowledgment. The words
8"acknowledged before me" means
9        (1) that the person acknowledging appeared before the
10    person taking the acknowledgment in a manner prescribed by
11    the laws or regulations applicable in the place in which
12    the acknowledgment is taken,
13        (2) that he acknowledged he executed the instrument,
14        (3) that, in the case of:
15            (i) a natural person, he executed the instrument
16        for the purposes therein stated;
17            (ii) a corporation, the officer or agent
18        acknowledged he held the position or title set forth
19        in the instrument and certificate, he signed the
20        instrument on behalf of the corporation by proper
21        authority, and the instrument was the act of the
22        corporation for the purpose therein stated;
23            (iii) a partnership, the partner or agent

1        acknowledged he signed the instrument on behalf of the
2        partnership by proper authority and he executed the
3        instrument as the act of the partnership for the
4        purposes therein stated;
5            (iv) a person acknowledging as principal by an
6        attorney in fact, he executed the instrument by proper
7        authority as the act of the principal for the purposes
8        therein stated;
9            (v) a person acknowledging as a public officer,
10        trustee, administrator, guardian, or other
11        representative, he signed the instrument by proper
12        authority and he executed the instrument in the
13        capacity and for the purposes therein stated; and
14        (4) that the person taking the acknowledgment either
15    knew or had satisfactory evidence that the person
16    acknowledging was the person named in the instrument or
17    certificate.
