SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
510 ILCS 70/19 new

    Amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. Requires the Department of Agriculture to establish an animal sourcing database for the purpose of compiling information regarding the origin of animals that have been forfeited to animal shelters in this State. Provides that the database shall keep record of specified information concerning each animal. Requires the Department to establish a certification board to oversee and maintain the processes of the database. Provides for the adoption of rules.

1    AN ACT concerning animals.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Humane Care for Animals Act is amended by
5adding Section 19 as follows:
 
6    (510 ILCS 70/19 new)
7    Sec. 19. Animal sourcing database; certification board.
8    (a) The Department shall establish an animal sourcing
9database for the purpose of compiling information regarding
10the origin of animals that have been forfeited to animal
11shelters in this State.
12    (b) The database shall keep record of each animal's
13location of origin, health information, including whether the
14animal is in compliance with State vaccination and other
15health requirements, and any other information which may be
16deemed relevant by the Department.
17    (c) The Department shall establish a certification board
18to oversee and maintain the processes of the database created
19under this Section.
20    (d) The Department shall adopt rules necessary for the
21implementation of the requirements of this Section.
