SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2805/2.01d new

    Amends the Department of Veterans' Affairs Act. Requires the Department of Veterans' Affairs to place in each Veterans Home and Veterans Service Office a locked suggestion box into which people may place comments and concerns to be addressed by the Department. Provides that only the Inspector General, or his or her designee, shall have access to the contents of the locked suggestion boxes, which must be checked once per week. Requires the Inspector General, or his or her designee, to review the contents of the locked suggestion box, find concerning items, and submit a report to the General Assembly each year outlining the issues and concerns found and the solution to each issue and concern.

1    AN ACT concerning State Government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Veterans' Affairs Act is
5amended by adding Section 2.01d as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 2805/2.01d new)
7    Sec. 2.01d. Suggestion boxes. The Department must place in
8each Veterans Home and Veterans Service Office a locked
9suggestion box into which people may place comments and
10concerns to be addressed by the Department. Only the Inspector
11General, or his or her designee, shall have access to the
12contents of the locked suggestion boxes. The Inspector
13General, or his or her designee, must check the locked
14suggestion boxes at least once per week and shall review the
15contents of the locked suggestion box, find concerning items,
16and submit a report to the General Assembly each year
17outlining the issues and concerns found and the solution to
