SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

720 ILCS 5/18-3

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Makes a technical change in a Section defining the offense of vehicular hijacking.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by changing Section 18-3 as follows:

(720 ILCS 5/18-3)

Sec. 18-3. Vehicular hijacking.

(a) A person commits vehicular hijacking when he or she knowingly takes a motor vehicle from the the person or the immediate presence of another by the use of force or by threatening the imminent use of force.

(b) Sentence. Vehicular hijacking is a Class 1 felony.
