SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jack L. Sawyer of Mapleton, who passed
4away on May 9, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was born to George and Linda
6(Herrmann) Sawyer in Baxter Springs, Kansas on November 1,
71937; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War;
8he married Judy Herring in Eureka on February 26, 1976; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was the owner of Contractors Carpet
10Services for over 50 years before retiring; he also owned
11Smith & Company Carpet Supplies; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was a member of Eastside Bible Church
13in Morton and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer enjoyed elk hunting, fishing, and
15spending time with his family and friends; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents;
17his stepson, Cliff Herring; and his brother, Jerry Sawyer; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer is survived by his wife of 48 years,
19Judy; his son, Judd Sawyer; his stepdaughter, Theresa (Brad)

1Johanson; his grandchildren, Adam Johanson, Benjamin Johanson,
2and Billie (Clint) Tibbs; three great-grandchildren; one
3niece; and two nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Jack L. Sawyer and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Jack Sawyer as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
