SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Abigail Elise "Abbey" Edwards of
4Springfield, who was born on November 18, 1999 and passed away
5on January 24, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Abbey Edwards worked at the Springfield Police
7Department, where she was soon to begin a new position; she
8also loved working with children and taught at Silver Leaf
9Academy prior to joining the Springfield Police Department;
10her love of the police department helped her decide to
11register for classes in the fall of 2023; she enjoyed her
12courses at Lincoln Land Community College and maintained a 4.0
13GPA while working two jobs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Abbey Edwards was a vivacious young woman who
15lived life to the fullest; her smile and confidence would
16shine in every room; she knew no strangers; she loved everyone
17fiercely, and that love was shown through the toughest of
18times; she was a wonderful daughter, little sister, and big
19sister; she always let everyone know how she felt and was the
20first to offer love when needed; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Abbey Edwards is survived by her parents,
22Elizabeth and Don Edwards Jr.; her brother, Alex Edwards; her

1sister, Allie Edwards; her grandparents, Martha Brown and
2Polly and Don Edwards Sr.; her cats, Coraline and Beans; and
3all those who loved her; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Abigail Elise "Abbey" Edwards and extend our sincere
7condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
8her; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Abbey Edwards as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
