SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gregory Lee "Greg" Strong of
4Brookport, formerly of Litchfield, who passed away on July 21,
52023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Greg Strong was born to Gary and Patricia Whitson
7Strong in Waukegan on August 25, 1967; he graduated from
8Litchfield High School in 1985; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Greg Strong joined the U.S. Army National Guard
10in 1989, and he completed basic training at Ft. Benning,
11Georgia; during his 25-year military career, he was deployed
12to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and he spent many years
13stationed at Camp Lincoln in Springfield; he retired from the
14U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant first class in 2014; and
 
15    WHEREAS, After his military service, Greg Strong worked
16for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and American
17Veterans (AMVETS), helping service members navigate their
18military benefits; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Greg Strong enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball,
20competing in many flat track dirt bike races, and singing
21karaoke; he loved watching the Chicago Cubs; and

1    WHEREAS, Greg Strong was preceded in death by his parents
2and his sister, Julie O'Roake; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Greg Strong is survived by his daughters, Devin
4(Zach) Allen, Brogan (Peter) Oswald, and Carson Strong; his
5fiancée, Debbie Barr; four grandchildren; two nieces; and one
6nephew; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gregory Lee "Greg" Strong and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Greg Strong as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
