SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate Benjamin David "Ben" Jonen on the occasion of achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Eagle Scout is the highest award the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout; and

WHEREAS, Ben Jonen was born to David and Dawn DeBlois Jonen in Hanover Park; he attended Lincoln Prairie School and graduated from Hoffman Estates High School in 2023; during high school, he participated in the school band, played on the volleyball team, and was a member of the National Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, Ben Jonen's Eagle Scout project involved the renovation and reconstruction of the maintenance shed at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hoffman Estates; after receiving approval from church leadership, he helped raise the funds needed for the renovation and reconstruction himself; he then developed the work schedule, made lists of materials and supplies required, and supervised the execution of the project; and

WHEREAS, Ben Jonen plans to attend Loyola University in Chicago with a focus on environment studies; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Benjamin David "Ben" Jonen on achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and we wish him continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ben Jonen as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
