SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Adele B. McFadden of Springfield, who
4passed away on May 25, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was born to Darrell "D.C." and
6Albina "Bea" Drasgulis Long in Springfield on April 8, 1950;
7she graduated from Springfield High School and earned her
8Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the
9University of Illinois at Springfield; she married Brian
10McFadden in Springfield on December 15, 2001; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden enjoyed a diverse and accomplished
12career that included serving as a recycling program
13coordinator for the State of Illinois, office manager for
14Sojourn Shelter and Services, and owner and operator of the
15iconic downtown establishment On Broadway; she finished her
16career as the assistant director of Planning and Economic
17Development for the City of Springfield; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden's passions included a lifelong
19love of blues music and remodeling and flipping homes,
20starting long before the existence of HGTV; she was also an
21expert at entertaining, whether it was organizing a child's
22party, a backyard blowout, or her legendary Christmas Eve

1parties; she loved to make others happy, and she did it
2exceptionally well; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was affectionately known as "Momo"
4to her grandchildren; after retiring early, she gladly traded
5her professional career for days of endless games of Scooby
6Doo, hide and seek, and badminton and fun with LEGO; she showed
7her grandchildren the world, including Disney, beach trips,
8river canoeing, Broadway shows, museums, and art galleries;
9she spent her life modeling for her grandchildren how to make
10the most of every minute, to work hard and never settle, and to
11give and love intensely; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden will be remembered as a fiercely
13strong and independent woman, a wise and compassionate mother,
14and a devoted wife whose love was unlimited and unconditional;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was preceded in death by her
17parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Bill
18Dietsch; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Adele McFadden is survived by her husband, Brian
20McFadden; her daughter, Kellie (Casey) Crayne; her
21grandchildren, Kayla, Nathanael, and Logan; her
22great-granddaughter, Livy; her sister, Patty (Pat Bumpus)

1Long; and her nieces and nephews, Tara, Ella, McKensie, Jack,
2Jimmy, Will, and Alice; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Adele B. McFadden and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Adele McFadden as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
