SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles Randall "Randy" Lewis of
4Newtown, Connecticut, who passed away on March 11, 2022 at the
5age of 77; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Randy Lewis was born to Dr. Charles and Anna Jean
7(Robertson) Lewis in East Lansing, Michigan on March 4, 1945;
8he was raised in Oak Park and attended Oak Park and River
9Forest High School; he enrolled at the University of Virginia
10(UVA), during which he developed a fondness for Civil War
11history and the Blue Ridge Mountains; upon completing his
12postsecondary studies, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served
13during the Vietnam War; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Randy Lewis settled and raised his family in
15Newtown, Connecticut; he built a career in sales and estate
16planning, which included stints with Northwestern Mutual,
17Cigna, and the Union Savings Bank Trust Department, serving as
18senior vice president for the latter; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Randy Lewis was involved with multiple community
20organizations; he belonged to the Midwestern Connecticut
21Council on Alcoholism (MCCA) for 27 years, most recently as
22chairman of the board; he also served on the vestry and several

1committees at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Throughout adulthood, Randy Lewis remained
3passionate about his college alma mater, UVA; he became the
4president of the Fairfield County UVA Club and established a
5memorial scholarship for new students; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Randy Lewis was an avid reader, which informed
7and inspired his conversations on history, politics, and
8current events; his favorite New England and MidAtlantic bars
9were Mory's in New Haven, the Tombs in Georgetown, and
10Washington Tavern in Washington Depot; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Randy Lewis relished spending time with family;
12he especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sue, and their
13experiences included viewing wildlife in Captiva, Florida,
14exploring the National Sea Shore on Cape Cod, and taking road
15trips; and
 
16    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Randy Lewis was
17survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue; his daughters, Karen
18(David Pardoe) and Sarah (Robert McElhinney); his grandsons,
19Jack and Sam; and his sister, Kate; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Charles Randall "Randy" Lewis and extend our sincere
2condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
3him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Randy Lewis as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
