SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 490/149 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates the month of May of each year as Jewish-American Heritage Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to celebrate the vitality and importance of Jewish-American citizens whose achievements and contributions have strengthened and enriched American culture, commerce, governance, education, and all aspects of community life in the United States.

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 149 as follows:

Sec. 149. Jewish-American Heritage Month. The month of May of each year is designated as Jewish-American Heritage Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to celebrate the vitality and importance of Jewish-American citizens whose achievements and contributions have strengthened and enriched American culture, commerce, governance, education, and all aspects of community life in the United States.
