SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry Joe Alexander of Jerseyville, who passed away on September 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was born to George and Bernice (Price) Alexander in Jerseyville on October 31, 1963; he graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1982; after graduation, he went to Worsham College of Mortuary Science and obtained his degree in funeral directing and embalming; he married the love of his life, Julie Ann Calvey, at the Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville on June 24, 1989; and

WHEREAS, In 1985, Larry Alexander started his career at Gubser Funeral Home; he became owner in 2000 and renamed it Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home; in 2020, the funeral home became the Alexander Funeral Home; and

WHEREAS, In 1992, Larry Alexander was elected Jersey County Coroner and continued to hold that political office until his death; this made him the longest running coroner in Jersey County history; throughout his political career, he was proud to be a consistent "Top Vote Getter" in Jersey County; and

WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church of Jerseyville, the Jersey County Republican Party, the Ainad Shriners, Full Moon Masonic Lodge #341, The Scottish Rite, The National Rifle Association, the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Gideons International, and the Illinois Odd Fellows; and

WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his siblings, James, Gary, Ronald, and Carolyn Alexander; his father-in-law, Donald Calvey; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Calvey; and

WHEREAS, Larry Alexander is survived by his daughters, Alyssa Breann Alexander and Kari Jo Alexander; his special niece whom he raised as a daughter, Kristie (Brad) Ross and their son, David Ross; his brother, Floyd (Diane) Alexander; and his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry Joe Alexander and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Alexander as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
