SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Linwood Rayford Elliott of Alton, who passed away on September 3, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Elliott was born to Anthony Elliott III and Willie Mae Davis Elliott in Grenada, Mississippi on May 29, 1943; he graduated from Carrie Dotson High School in Grenada in 1963; he also attended Alcorn University; he relocated to Godfrey in 1965, where he first resided with his sister, Judia, his brother-in-law, E.O. Lacey, and family; after being in the social arena, he moved to Alton, where he resided with his brother, James, his sister-in-law, Annie Lee Elliott, and family; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Elliott was a former employee of the Duncan Foundry, the Olin Chemical Corporation, and the Alton Boxboard Company; he retired from the Clark Oil Refinery; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Elliott was affectionately known as "Yabba Dabba Do"; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Elliott is survived by his children, Tambla Lynn Elliott, Anthony L. J. Elliott (Rene), Linwood Elliott Jr. (Glendoria), Alison Joelle (Kamal) Randolph, and Dr. Angela A. Elliott; his bonus daughter, Java Taylor Anderson; his bonus son, Gregory Calvin McGraw; his best friend and former wife, Minister Joyce Y. Elliott; his 12 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Willie Louise Paramore and Mary Helen Elliott; his bonus sister, Peggy Williams; his sisters-in-law, Annie Lee Elliott, Alice Elliott, Mabell Elliott, Doris Jo Elliott, Betty Holloway, Janice Watson, Marilyn Glen, Ruby Madison, and Barbara Thompson; his brothers-in-law, William Watson, William Thompson, Ernest Henderson, and Bert Henderson; his many nieces and nephews; and his cousins and special friends, Anthony Jones, Dale Edwards, John Jackson, Anthony Gator, and Billie Williams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Linwood Rayford Elliott and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Linwood Elliott as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
