SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Rodell of Rock Island, who passed away on October 20, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was born to Clifford and Verne (Lindahl) Rodell in Moline on December 18, 1940; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Joanne Downey in Moline in June 1962; he married Virginia Anson in Rock Island on September 5, 1992; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell served as a police officer in Moline; he later retired from Roadway Express in 2002; he worked part-time as a bus driver at Friendship Manor in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was presented the Two and a Half Million Miles Safe Driver Award from Roadway Express; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell's interests included NASCAR, his trucks, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles; he enjoyed going on rides with his wife and vacationing with his girls; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was affectionately known as the mayor of 30th Street; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Downey, and his three siblings; and

WHEREAS, Jim Rodell is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters, Dori (Jose) Correa, Diane (Troy) Winthurst, and Denise (Jim Jr.) Hantz; his grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Jenna, Brandon, and Adison; his great-grandchildren, Isabella, Holden, Addison, Brooklyn, and Everly; his niece, Michelle Panno Johnson; his nephew, Tony (Yvonne) Panno; and his beloved dogs, Gretchen and Abby; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James A. "Jim" Rodell and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Rodell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
