SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lynn "Tom" Harpst of Mahomet, who
4passed away on June 18, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Harpst was born to John and Eileen (Shea)
6Harpst in Monroe, Wisconsin on September 18, 1942; he
7graduated from Champaign High School in 1960; he joined the
8U.S. Navy in 1960 and served on the U.S.S. Windham County,
9formerly known as the U.S.S. LST-1170, for three years, two
10months, and one day; he married Martha McCree in Champaign on
11February 18, 1995; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tom Harpst worked as a state highway worker for
13the majority of his adult life, earning retirement in 2002;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tom Harpst believed in community service and was
16active with the Mahomet Lions Club, the American Legion, and
17the Patriot Guard Riders; he also served with the Cornbelt
18Fire Department for 32 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom Harpst was preceded in death by his brother,
20John; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom Harpst is survived by his wife, Martha; his
2sons, Andy (Alyssa) Harpst and Chris (Sarah Hall) Harpst; his
3stepchildren, Connie (Cam) Bierman, Randy (Shirley) Eggemeyer,
4and Mark (Lorie) Eggemeyer; his eight grandchildren; his two
5great-grandchildren; and his sister, Tara (Ken) Nichols;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lynn "Tom" Harpst and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Tom Harpst as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
