SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Walter R. Karstens of Silvis, who
4passed away on June 12, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Karstens was born to Charles and Barbara
6(Day) Karstens in Moline on March 5, 1948; he graduated from
7Moline High School in 1966; he served in the U.S. Army during
8the Vietnam War; he married Judy Dahlberg; he later married
9Lorain Cunningham in Moline on April 3, 1992; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Walter Karstens worked for the State of Illinois;
11he later owned and operated Casey's Tavern in Moline alongside
12his wife, Lorain, until December 2021; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Walter Karstens enjoyed traveling, boating, and
14wintering in Florida; he loved spending time with his family
15most of all; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Walter Karstens was preceded in death by his
17brother-in-law, Herb Mullens; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Walter Karstens is survived by his wife, Lorain;
19his children, Alan (Pamela) Cullor, Aaron Cullor, Bridgit
20(Dann) Schmidt, Tina (Casey) Lukowicz, and Nicole Salinas; his

1grandchildren, Liam, Harlow, Landon, Avery, Nicolas, Henna,
2Melissa, Meghin, Abby, Austin, and Gabby; and his sisters,
3Denise Mullens and Dee Karstens; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Walter R. Karstens and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Walter Karstens as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
