SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark N. Kessler of Springfield, who passed away on April 24, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Mark Kessler was born to Bill Kessler and Grace R. Katz in Springfield on November 16, 1947; he married Kathy Thompson in Springfield on September 4, 1984; and

WHEREAS, Mark Kessler started Recycled Records with his brother, Gary, on the balcony of their family's Springfield Furniture Store, eventually expanding into the entire building; together, they developed Recycled Records into a beloved staple of Springfield frequented by audiophiles and collectors alike; and

WHEREAS, Mark Kessler was presented with the Wally Henderson Lifetime Achievement Award by Downtown Springfield Inc. (DSI) in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Mark Kessler enjoyed collecting antique glass and jewelry and playing in National Bridge Tournaments; he will be remembered as a beloved and thoughtful person; and

WHEREAS, Mark Kessler is survived by his wife, Kathy; his brother, Gary Kessler; his aunt, Florence Treiber; his first cousins, Sue (Arnie) Cohen, Ron (Nancy) Treiber, Judy Feinberg, and Henry (Debbie) Feinberg; and his beloved Goldendoodle, Ace; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark N. Kessler and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Kessler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
