SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Rimbey "Tom" Lukeman, who passed away on February 24, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was born to George T. Lukeman Jr. and Maymestelle in Jacksonville on January 4, 1935; he grew up in Woodland; he was an Eagle Scout who loved the outdoors, and he often reminisced about his adventurous trips to Glacier Park, Montana; he graduated from Bradley University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; he served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman enjoyed working at several family businesses in Jacksonville, including the Lukeman Motor Company and Sandy Creek Farm; he later worked in finance at SIU School of Medicine; he retired as controller from the Illinois State Commerce Commission; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was a veteran, an American patriot, and an avid Republican; he was a member of Elks Lodge 682 and the Jacksonville Country Club; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a good man with a great sense of humor; alongside his wife, he loved traveling to visit their children in Tennessee, Florida, South Africa, and California; he lived his life to the fullest; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman is survived by his wife, Joanne; his daughter, Connie Lukeman-Alston (Nick); his stepchildren, Bob Hill (Jean), Diane Hardwick (Larry, deceased), and Brad Hill (Debbie); his grandchildren, Dustin Hardwick (Joy), Dana Bangert (Matt), Katie Grant (Chris), Audrey Seyerle (Franz), Tyler Hill (Candace), and Andrew Hill; his 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Williams; his nephew, Tom Williams (Kelly); and his niece, Missy Bobb; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas Rimbey "Tom" Lukeman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Lukeman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
