SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Fred C. Volkmar of Peoria, who passed
4away on April 13, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was born to Frederick C. and Clara
6Marie (Hiles) Volkmar in Peoria on February 9, 1943; he
7graduated from Woodruff High School in 1961; he married Linda
8K. Johnson in Peoria on April 25, 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar began working as an AV technician at
10Peoria Sound immediately after graduating high school;
11alongside Linda, he purchased the business in 1980, changing
12its name to Prospect TV & Sound Service; he remained active in
13operating their business until his passing, although he
14semi-retired in 2006; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was a member of First English
16Lutheran Church since 1968, where he served as a trustee and an
17usher in his early years; his favorite church activity was
18tinkering with anything that needed fixing, from the sound
19system to a crack in the stained glass; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar loved his family above all; he was
21beyond proud of his children, grandchildren, and

1great-grandchild; he never knew a stranger and touched the
2lives of so many over the years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was preceded in death by his
4parents; his sister, Sylvia Volkmar; and his beloved cat,
5Muffin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar is survived by his wife of 57 years,
7Linda; his daughters, Karen (Riley) Hilyard, Fredda (Roger)
8Jones, and Janel (Chris) Hart; his grandchildren, Ryan Akers,
9Brittany (Aaron Broomfield) Volkmar, Christina (Caleb) Wolfe,
10Sydney Hart, Kenzie Hart, Colton Jones, and Wyatt Jones; his
11great-grandson, Cylus Stewart; and several step-grandchildren
12and unofficial grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Fred C. Volkmar and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Fred Volkmar as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
