SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Fred C. Volkmar of Peoria, who passed away on April 13, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was born to Frederick C. and Clara Marie (Hiles) Volkmar in Peoria on February 9, 1943; he graduated from Woodruff High School in 1961; he married Linda K. Johnson in Peoria on April 25, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar began working as an AV technician at Peoria Sound immediately after graduating high school; alongside Linda, he purchased the business in 1980, changing its name to Prospect TV & Sound Service; he remained active in operating their business until his passing, although he semi-retired in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was a member of First English Lutheran Church since 1968, where he served as a trustee and an usher in his early years; his favorite church activity was tinkering with anything that needed fixing, from the sound system to a crack in the stained glass; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar loved his family above all; he was beyond proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild; he never knew a stranger and touched the lives of so many over the years; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sylvia Volkmar; and his beloved cat, Muffin; and

WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; his daughters, Karen (Riley) Hilyard, Fredda (Roger) Jones, and Janel (Chris) Hart; his grandchildren, Ryan Akers, Brittany (Aaron Broomfield) Volkmar, Christina (Caleb) Wolfe, Sydney Hart, Kenzie Hart, Colton Jones, and Wyatt Jones; his great-grandson, Cylus Stewart; and several step-grandchildren and unofficial grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Fred C. Volkmar and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Fred Volkmar as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
