HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ethan S. Barnes of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, who passed away on May 19, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Barnes was born to Haywood S. Barnes Jr. and Andrea M. Garr-Barnes; he lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts before moving to Fairhaven, Massachusetts 10 years ago; he was scheduled to complete his bachelor's degree in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts in the summer of 2022; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Barnes was a proud member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local #328 in Wilmington, Massachusetts for several years; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Barnes enjoyed being with his children and his dog, Minnie; he also enjoyed coaching the New Bedford Bears football team, riding his Harley motorcycle, camping with friends, attending New England Patriots and Boston Celtics games, and traveling with his companion, Carly; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Barnes was the youngest grandson of the late Maurice "Mickey" Garr, Haywood S. Barnes Sr., and Louise Grant; and

WHEREAS, Ethan Barnes is survived by his parents; his children, Easton Barnes and Nia Barnes; his children's mother, Brittany Duarte; his companion, Carly Barboza; his brothers, Haywood (Nakita) Smart Barnes III and Maurice (Angela) Garr Barnes; his grandmother, Millicent L. Garr; his nieces and nephews, Amyah Barnes, Haylee Barnes, Barrett Barnes, Brooklynn Barnes, Jaxon Barnes, and Dominik Barnes; his aunts and uncles, Dolores Garr, Michele Garr, Thelma Peoples, Dorothy Grant-Graham, April (Harry) Thomas, Marcy (Elpidio) Arocho, and Fred Grant; and his several cousins, Alexis "Lexi" Garr, April Glover, Aaron Grant, Robert Graham, Kyla Perry, Andre Graham, James Peoples, and Arthur Peoples; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ethan S. Barnes and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ethan Barnes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
