HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Voss Pattern Works Inc.
4in Belleville on 100 years of business; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Voss Pattern Works was opened at 1116 East "A"
6Street by Edward and Lena Voss in 1921; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Edward and Lena's eldest son Ed worked at Voss
8Pattern Works from 1946 to 1947 before relocating as a
9patternmaker to San Francisco, California; their son Virgil
10started working in pattern making in 1946, and their son Leo
11started in 1948; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Upon Edward's death in January of 1958, Virgil
13and Leo formed a partnership to continue the business and
14joined the Pattern Makers League of North America; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In 1966, the business moved into the present
16location at 123 Iowa Ave; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lena retired in 1978, and Leo's wife Mina became
18the office manager; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The business was incorporated in June of 1980;

2    WHEREAS, Virgil's son Tim worked as an apprentice pattern
3maker from 1980 to 1982; Leo's son Joe started as an apprentice
4in June 1981, and Leo's son Frank has operated the shell core
5machine since 1987; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Upon Virgil's death in August of 2002, Joe became
7shop manager; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Leo and Mina, both 92-years old, continue to come
9to the shop almost every day; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Voss Pattern Works Inc. on 100 years of
13service and wish them continued success; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Voss Pattern Works Inc. as a symbol of our esteem
16and respect.
